The organisation

Water Safety Ireland (“WSI”) is the statutory, voluntary body and registered charity established for the promotion of public awareness of water safety, the promotion of measures to prevent accidents in water, the provision of instruction in water safety, rescue, swimming resuscitation and recovery drills. WSI utilizes education and sport to fulfil its responsibilities ambitiously, and works with local, national and international organisations to advance the promotion of water safety.

The role

The Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) will lead the organisation in expanding its reach as the statutory body founded for the purpose of preventing drowning and as an established authority on water safety education and lifesaving activities, both across Ireland and worldwide. The CEO will be a key leader within the organisation as it moves towards the realisation of both its mission and goals and will set the tone for the whole organisation. The CEO will lead by example and will be charged with supporting a growth orientated culture that champions learning, development, innovation, and continuous improvement across all functions within the organisation.

The person

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record, and will be able to demonstrate leadership, and the ability to initiate, direct and review new developments, together with the stamina to energise, motivate and build trust. They will possess evidence of leading through a period of change and digital transformation, and will have a strong understanding of the role of information, advice and advocacy within civil society.
