Canice Nicholas, co-founder of Cara Pharmacy Group, will outline the journey Cara took to grow from a single pharmacy into a €40 million turnover business with nationwide coverage.
The case study will be followed by a panel of direct lending providers including Dunport, Muzinich & Co. Ltd, BMS Finance and Capital Step, with input from the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland, who will lead a discussion on funding solutions currently available to businesses in the Irish market.

Canice is originally from Plumbridge, Co. Tyrone and in 2000 he moved to Bundoran on the south-west coast of Donegal. It was then he purchased the first store of the Cara group in Bundoran. He married Ramona in 2005 and they have two children, Alex (8) and Sarah (1). He studied Pharmacy at Queen’s University in Belfast. He is a very keen athlete and regularly takes part in Triathlons, Full & Half Iron Man Challenges & marathons.
He is very passionate about GAA especially his home county of Tyrone. Canice founded The Bundoran Cara Run which attracts 2,000 athletes annually and raised in excess of €100,000 for various charities.
The Cara Group was formed with his wife Ramona in 2002, and over the last 15 years the group continues to grow with the recent Acquisition of Abbey Healthcare Ltd. This will bring Cara Groups turnover to over €40 million with 260 employees. Their Head Office is based in Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal. A qualified Pharmacist, he is highly skilled in Strategic planning, aggressive purchasing methods, accounting structures, web development and is head of pharmacy services for the group. The company has won numerous awards under his guidance, including Deloitte Best Managed Company 2012, 2013, 2014, achieved Gold Standard in 2015, 2016 and most recently this year 2017.
