Internal Audit Trainee

Mazars are interested in hiring trainees to work in our Governance, Risk and Internal Control division. Successful applicants will be employed under a three year training and development programme, in the course of which they will be intensively trained and educated to operate to the highest standard in the area of internal audit, risk management, governance and compliance.

Over the course of this three year period, candidates will be provided with a rigorous training and development programme which includes both an internal 3 year training programme and sitting one / more of the following examinations;

  • IIA Advance Diploma in Internal Auditing and Management
  • IIA Diploma in Internal Audit Practice
  • IIA Certificate in Internal Audit and Business Risk
  • ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)
  • ACA (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland)

The Institute of Internal Auditors – UK and Ireland (IIA) is the only professional body in the UK and Ireland solely dedicated to the professional practice of internal auditing.

The trainees’ responsibilities will grow with each year of the contract completed and examinations passed. By the end of their training, the applicants will take full responsibility for client assignments.

The ideal candidate will have a balanced interest in sectoral knowledge and audit practice, and a rigorous approach to work. Main Duties/Responsibilites

The responsibilities of the internal audit trainee will develop from year to year, based upon experience gained and skills developed. These will include, but are not limited, to:

  • Examining and documenting risks and internal controls
  • Planning and executing tests of internal controls
  • Advising on and assisting with the remediation of control deficiencies

Principal Requirements

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, rigour and attention to detail
  • Understanding of risk and internal controls
  • Understanding of business and finance
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent computer-literacy skills
  • Ability to operate in a challenging and dynamic environment
  • Self motivated with a strong business background
  • Willingness to travel and manage national/international assignments
