IT Audit Trainee

This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in a rapidly growing and highly rewarding area of professional services.

The Role

Mazars are interested in hiring trainees to work in our IT audit division. Successful applicants will be employed under a three year training and development programme to start November 2012, in the course of which they will be intensively trained and educated to operate to the highest standard in the area of IT audit, security and compliance.

Over the course of this three year period, candidates will be provided with a rigorous training and development programme which includes both an internal 3 year training programme and the sitting two/ three of the following examinations;

  • CISA - Certified Information Systems Auditor - Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA)
  • CISM - Certified Information Security Manager - Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA)
  • CISSP - Certified information systems security professionals

ISACA is a recognized worldwide leader in IT governance, control, security and assurance and develops international information systems auditing and control standards.

The Institute of Internal Auditors - UK and Ireland is the only professional body in the UK and Ireland solely dedicated to the professional practice of internal auditing.

The trainees' responsibilities will grow with each year of the contract completed and examinations passed. By the end of their training, the applicants will take full responsibility for client assignments.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the trainee consultant will develop from year to year, based upon experience gained and skills developed. These will include, but are not limited, to:

  • Examining and documenting IT and security controls
  • Planning and executing tests of IT and security controls
  • Advising on and assisting with the remediation of control deficiencies
  • Penetration testing and vulnerability assessment
  • Review of client technology infrastructure
  • IT testing
  • Security testing
  • Network testing
  • Data interrogation and analysis
  • IT forensic/ fraud testing 

Principal Requirements

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, rigour and attention to detail
  • Good technical IT knowledge, which may include a knowledge of networking, IT security, operating systems, system administration and/or programming
  • Ability to operate in a challenging and dynamic environment
  • Self motivated with a strong technical background
  • Strong written skills
  • An interest in discovery, testing and remediation of IT environments
  • Excellent knowledge of technology (applications, infrastructure, best practice, controls)
  • Willingness to travel and manage international assignments
